MASUM advances the rights of women and girls in India through community work, research, advocacy, and networking. In collaboration with the Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT), they are implementing a four-year-long What Works funded project.
The project will be implemented in four rural areas of Aurangabad district, where government health workers from tertiary to primary health settings, including community-level health workers, will be trained.
The project will systematically integrate CEHATs model Dilaasa (means ‘solace’; a hospital based crisis centre for domestic violence that offers psychosocial support to women) with WHO guidelines using LIVES (Listening, Inquiring about needs and concerns, Validating and assuring that she is not to blame, Enhancing safety and Supporting) and health systems strengthening into the provision of primary care by physicians, nurses, midwives, social workers, and community health workers. It will integrate both prevention communication and universal education into primary care services (e.g., family planning, antenatal, postpartum, routine sick care and well/sick childcare) to women and girls.
