About the Helpdesk
The Helpdesk is a research and advice service for the UK Government to help prevent violence against women and children.
We offer a high-quality, tailored service that is flexible to staff needs at different stages of the policy and programming cycle, and across sectors and themes.
The Helpdesk is staffed by experienced senior researchers and draws on experts from across the What Works consortium and a pool of over 80 pre-screened experts – both international and national.
Helpdesk Services
Query service providing rapid desk research, evidence synthesis, analysis, and technical advice for FCDO staff and other government departments.
Short-term country assignments to support country offices and posts on the design, implementation, review and evaluation of VAWG programmes. Individual experts and teams can be mobilised at short notice in response to wide-ranging topics.
Longer-term accompaniment to support the design and delivery of prevention programming on violence against women and girls, either standalone or integrated into sectoral programmes.
Strategic engagement with central policy teams to provide technical support and build capacity.
Knowledge products on violence against women and girls. Topics addressed so far include Violence against LGBTQI people, What Works to Prevent Conflict-related Sexual Violence, GBV and Mental Health, and GBV and Climate Change.
A quarterly newsletter which shares our latest research, evidence, policy and news on the prevention of violence against women and girls.
