Orphan Trafficking Report

A review of the available evidence on orphan trafficking and how this is increasing the risks of children to exploitation and abuse in care institutions.

Orphan trafficking is a form of human trafficking in which children are recruited or transferred into orphanages or residential care institutions for the purpose of exploitation and profit. This report, produced by our VAWC Helpdesk, is based on a rapid review of the evidence on orphan trafficking and its links to increased risks of exploitation and abuse.
