Guidance Note for Technical Advisers and Technical Adviser Toolkit
These complementary resources share learning from What Works II on providing high-quality, equitable technical support to organisations implementing violence against women and girls (VAWG) prevention projects.
The Guidance Note for Technical Advisers sets out the approach to technical support adopted by What Works II, covering the role of technical advisers, different phases of support, how to tailor the level of support required, mechanisms for learning and quality assurance, and how to support technical advisers in their roles. While developed from the experience of What Works II, the guidance is particularly relevant to global and regional programmes that fund and support multiple grantee partners.
Authors: Alice Kerr-Wilson, Petronille Geara, Tina Musuya and Dorah Kiconco Musinguzi.
The accompanying Technical Adviser Toolkit provides practical tools used and tested by technical advisers working with What Works II grantee partners throughout the project cycle, from design and implementation through to closure. The tools can be adapted to different contexts, needs and levels of expertise. Together, the Guidance Note and Toolkit offer practical learning and resources for technical advisers and programme teams seeking to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of technical support in VAWG prevention programming.
