Adaptation of Violence Against Women and Girls Interventions: Insights from What Works II
This brief brings together learning from What Works II implementing partners on adapting violence against women and girls (VAWG) prevention interventions to new contexts. Drawing on partners’ experiences, it shares practical examples, considerations and lessons to support other practitioners undertaking adaptation.
Rather than providing a step-by-step framework, the brief explores three key phases that consistently emerged across partners’ adaptation processes. It highlights the different activities undertaken, approaches used and lessons learned, offering practical insights into how interventions can be thoughtfully adapted while maintaining their core prevention principles.
